Service and Operations
Always call 911 first.
No. Availability depends on local aircraft location, weather and what’s happening operationally at the time of the call. Local EMS and first responders determine which aircraft responds based on proximity and appropriateness for the situation. We encourage you to review all air ambulance service providers in your area.
The primary participating providers are Air Evac Lifeteam, Guardian Flight, Med-Trans Corporation and REACH Air Medical Services. Together, they operate hundreds of aircraft from over 320 bases across 38 states, making AMCN one of the largest air ambulance membership networks in the U.S..
Yes. AMCN providers are often integrated into regional emergency response systems, coordinating directly with local EMS agencies, fire departments, hospitals and emergency responders to get patients to the nearest most appropriate hospital as fast as possible.
Insurance and Costs
AMCN membership benefits apply only when transport is performed by a participating AMCN air ambulance provider. If you are transported by a ground or a different air ambulance provider, your membership will not apply.
If another service responds, those providers will bill you and/or your insurance according to standard billing procedures.
It’s a good idea to have both. Air ambulance flights can be expensive, and most insurance plans don’t cover the entire cost. Deductibles, copays, coinsurance and charges above what the insurer considers allowable can add up. If you are transported by an AMCN provider, your membership covers any remaining balance after insurance pays, so you do not receive a bill for the flight.
Having an AMCN membership can add a layer of financial security.
Medicare and Medicare supplemental (Medigap) policies may cover a portion of medically necessary air ambulance transport, but coverage varies by plan and deductibles and co-insurance may apply.
Medicaid programs typically cover the full cost of medically necessary air ambulance transport, and participating AMCN providers generally accept it as payment in full. However, coverage and eligibility may vary by state, so it’s a good idea to review the details of your specific Medicaid plan to confirm.
No. Membership is not an insurance policy, and it’s specific to emergency air medical transport by participating AMCN providers. Membership works alongside your health insurance and does not replace it, and doesn’t cover medical care or transport provided by non-participating providers.
Membership Benefits and Protection
An AirMedCare Network (AMCN) membership protects you from out-of-pocket costs when you need emergency air ambulance transport from a participating AMCN provider. When a medically necessary flight is performed, any balance remaining after insurance pays is waived so you don’t receive a bill for the flight.
No. In an emergency, local EMS and medical professionals determine whether an air transport is medically necessary, and which aircraft is dispatched based on the patient’s condition, aircraft availability, location, weather and operational considerations. An AMCN membership does not guarantee that an AMCN aircraft will transport you in every medical situation.
If an AMCN provider is dispatched, your membership benefits apply. If an AMCN provider is not dispatched, they don’t apply – your membership status does not influence decisions made by local EMS and medical professionals at the scene.
Emergency responders are focused on care, not insurance coverage or membership status. Membership status is verified after transport during the billing process, so benefits will apply regardless of the knowledge of your membership by emergency personnel.
Many members choose to carry their membership card or note their membership in a medical ID app or wallet. Identification of membership by emergency first responders is not required at the time of transport.
No, there’s no annual cap on transports for a standard or senior AMCN membership. As long as your transport is performed by a participating AMCN provider and meets medical necessity criteria, your membership benefits apply. Municipal Site Plan membership terms and conditions may vary.
One AMCN membership covers everyone living in your household at the same primary residence. This includes:
The primary member
A spouse or domestic partner
Dependent children living in the household, including students who are away at school
Coverage applies whether your household members are at home or traveling within the U.S. when they’re transported by a participating AMCN provider.
Yes. Primary or secondary members age 60 and older qualify for discounted household pricing.

Fly-U-Home
Service and Operations
Generally, transport can occur within 24 to 48 hours after the transport request is approved by the operator.
The Fly-U-Home team manages your transfer from your hospital bed at the originating facility to the moment you’re admitted to the receiving hospital.
Yes. Every Fly-U-Home aircraft is medically equipped and staffed by trained medical professionals. Similar to an intensive care unit, the medical crew monitors and manages care for the patient throughout the flight. The specific equipment and level of care provided depends on your condition and what the transport medical team determines is needed.
You may make a request, and the team will do their best to accommodate it. The receiving medical facility must accept the transfer and have an appropriate bed available. Fly-U-Home domestic membership allows for transport to the member’s hospital of chioce within 150 miles of the member’s home address on file. The Fly-U-Home International membership allows for transport within 300 miles of the member’s address.
Unfortunately, no. Fly-U-Home coordinates the medical transport but not the retrieval of personal vehicles or belongings. Arrangement for your items will need to be made separately by you or your family.
Insurance and Costs
No. Fly-U-Home is a separate membership service and insurance isn’t required. The membership is considered pre-payment for the cost and arrangement of eligible hospital-to-hospital air medical transport regardless of your insurance status.
Applicable expenses include the air medical transportation, the medical crew, and onboard care during the flight and the full coordination of the transfer, as well as communication between the sending and receiving hospitals.
Membership Benefits and Protection
A Fly-U-Home membership arranges and covers air medical transport back to a hospital near your home when you are hospitalized while traveling.
If you’re hospitalized 150 nautical miles or more from your primary residence, Fly-U-Home arranges and covers the costs of air medical transport back to a hospital near your home. This service is initiated once you’re medically stable, and your attending physician has cleared you for the transfer. See additional terms and conditions for Fly-U-Home membership.
Hospital-to-hospital air medical transport
If you’re hospitalized more than 150 miles from home, Fly-U-Home arranges medically equipped air transport to a hospital closer to your residence.
No out-of-pocket cost for the flight
The cost of eligible transport arranged through the program, with no deductibles or claim forms.
Household coverage
One membership covers your entire household, including family members at the same address and eligible students away at school.
Bedside-to-bedside coordination
The Fly-U-Home team coordinates the entire transfer process, including confirming hospital bed availability, arranging the aircraft and medical crew and handling all logistics from the moment you leave one facility and arrive at the next.
Air and ground transportation
Ground transport to and from the airport is included as part of the coordinated transfer when needed.
Membership covers up to two separate transports per year per membership (in total for all members covered under one membership); however, if multiple members who are covered under one membership require simultaneous transport, then each member will be limited to that one transport.
In most cases, yes. One family member or companion can accompany you, as long as there is available space on the aircraft and the medical team determines it’s safe to do so. The final decision is made by the medical team based on your condition, the aircraft configuration and safety requirements.
One membership covers your entire household, including a designated primary member and all people who dwell in a shared living space with the primary member and who are named in the enrollment application.
Yes, a few. Fly-U-Home benefits apply when you’re hospitalized 150 nautical miles or more from your primary residence within the 48 contiguous Uinted States for domestic membership and around the world for international membership. Some remote or inaccessible locations may present limitations based on aircraft availability, airport access, weather conditions or other operational constraints. The Fly-U-Home team will work to determine the safest and most appropriate transportation option available. All transports are subject to medical approval and program terms and conditions.
